Jessica Castner is President of Castner Incorporated, a woman-owned small business enterprise, and Executive in Residence – Climate Leader at Duke University. She joined Duke as tenured Professor with the University at Albany. Castner served as the National Academy of Medicine’s 2021-2022 Distinguished Nurse Scholar in Residence to engage in a prominent role in developing health policy related to climate change and disasters, environmental health, clinician wellbeing, and artificial intelligence applications at the federal level with interprofessional collaborators. Dr. Castner is a fellow in the Academy of Emergency Nursing and American Academy of Nursing with a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, an M.S.N. with a public health nursing concentration at the University of Missouri-Columbia, and a B.S.N. from Marquette University. Dr. Castner has also achieved a certificate in Executive Healthcare Leadership from Cornell University. A board-certified emergency nurse, Castner’s work trajectory has focused on environmental and contextual drivers of emergency health outcomes and care.
