With funding from the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), Castner Incorporated offers a prestigious educational program to doctorally-prepared nurse and clinician scientists to further their research, leadership, and practice in environmental health. The 2025 Environmental Health Research Institute for Nurse and Clinician Scientists (EHRI-NCS), in partnership with Washington State University (WSU), workshop will be held in Spokane, Washington on April 6-8, 2025, immediately preceding the Western Institute of Nursing’s (WIN) Research Conference.
EHRI-NCS is a flipped-classroom, train-the-trainer, and mentorship program that has mentored over 100 nurse and interdisciplinary researchers in the advancement of environmental health science. Several tuition waiver scholarship positions are open in the EHRI-NCS 2025 Cohort and qualified applicants will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis through March 20, 2025.
In response to the announcement of the application timeline extension, Program Lead and Associate Dean for Research at the WSU College of Nursing Julie Postma, PhD, RN issued the following statement:
“We are so excited to welcome nursing scholars to beautiful Spokane, WA. This Institute will give participants the tools they need to move their environmental health research trajectory forward. Participants will learn from nationally renowned nursing faculty from across the U.S. as well as from each other.”
Additionally, Castner Incorporated President, Jessica Castner, PhD, RN-BC, FAEN, FAAN issued the following statement:
“Alumni of our program have leveraged the new skills and collaborations from our workshop to achieve incredible impact by designing innovative research, starting new educational programs, and informing health policy. We’re thrilled to continue to expand our workshop community with Washington State University, which is uniquely positioned to advance rural health.”
